A name in gold, a machine in black
The Magnum Popular makes you stop at the lettering first. Gold against the dark lid, a divided fabric-lined case and a substantial handpiece give it a compact, distinctive character. The fitted compartments make a pleasing frame for the apparatus, with each shape adding to the feeling of an instrument meant to be opened and kept.
Dial, lever and glass
A large main dial sits beside a smaller metal control lever, with a 200–250 V marking visible on the panel. The photographs show one curved mushroom-style glass electrode alongside the dark handpiece. That combination has a lovely visual rhythm: a strong circular control, the smaller lever and the gentle curve of the glass.
Why I like this Magnum
This restored Magnum Popular is graded Used – good. I am drawn to the way a few strong details give it so much personality. The lettering, the dial and the divisions of the case feel considered, and the handpiece has a real presence of its own. It is a characterful piece of high-frequency history to collect and appreciate. Enquire about the pictured set for availability and a closer look.
