A closer look.

Cream, amber and living glass

This is the kind of case that rewards the moment before anyone reaches for a control. The orange-tan surround, cream two-dial face and glass arranged around it give the Holo-Electron a lovely visual rhythm. It feels like an instrument made to be opened with intention.

I am particularly fond of sets whose written companions have stayed with them. Here the original Holo-Electron manual or documentation adds another way into the object: the apparatus on one side, and the words and illustrations that once explained it on the other.

Care beneath the cream panel

My restoration notes record servicing of the original transformer and internal circuitry, testing under load, and smooth output and treatment-time controls. They also describe the original wand in excellent working order and a strong violet corona. The fitted power lead stays with the apparatus.

The condition is listed as Used – good. The original fitted case is described in my notes as very good, and the extensive original glass selection was checked for a clean, bright discharge. It is a satisfying combination of machinery, presentation and surviving context.

The pieces that belong together

The set comprises the Holo-Electron generator, original wand handle, large original glass electrode selection shown in the gallery, original manual or documentation and original fitted case. The glass is a considerable part of its appeal: familiar forms sit beside less familiar ones, each adding to the character of the open case.
