🔧 Restoration, Servicing & Part Exchange
If you own a Violet Ray or related instrument, I offer museum-grade restoration, servicing, and part-exchange options.

A closer look.
A quieter kind of presence
Some machines fill a room through sheer size. This Readson draws you closer. The black textured case, the restrained faceplate and those two black controls have a quiet confidence that I find hard to resist. Open the lid and the glass catches the light around an instrument whose beauty lies in the small details. It is compact, purposeful and full of character.
The READSON name and Made in England lettering sit beautifully with that uncluttered presentation. The original case and fittings, the dark handpiece, the clear glass forms and the metal cylindrical fitting make a wonderfully coherent little collection. This is the sort of apparatus I can spend ages looking at before a single violet glow appears.
British engineering beneath the lid
The two-control arrangement includes switchable 100–125 V / 200–250 V supply ranges, with a UK plug fitted. The clear markings and simple layout are part of the pleasure: you can follow the design through the panel, the connections and the handpiece, while the glass gives that engineering its unmistakable visual expression.
My restoration notes
My restoration notes describe the original black casing and fittings in excellent condition, a modern insulated replacement power lead, tested glass electrodes and insulation, resistance and leakage checks. The set is graded Used – like new. What I value in a restoration like this is the relationship between the preserved exterior and the practical work inside: the object keeps the character that made it worth saving.
The set and its next chapter
The Readson comes with its original fitted black case, the pictured electrode selection and the restored and tested power lead. I love the way the whole arrangement feels considered, from the lettering to the position of the fittings in the lid. It carries the atmosphere of early high-frequency electrotherapy in a form you can open, study and appreciate at close quarters. A lovely British machine for its next keeper to get to know.
Condition: Used – like new.
