Blue, cream, glass: a whole electrical world beneath one lid.
There is a particular elegance to this recorded Holo-Electron: the dark-blue case, the cream trim, and that wonderfully organised interior. Before getting anywhere near a technical explanation, the photographs offer the pleasure of a beautifully composed object. Everything has its place, yet the collection of glass shapes makes the whole arrangement feel charged with possibilities.
To me, the surviving Rayons Violets manual belongs at the centre of that picture. It gives the apparatus a companion voice from its own world. Here was a complete presentation of an idea: an instrument, its controls, a substantial handpiece, and a language of attachments that somebody expected an owner to learn and recognise.
A cabinet of glass possibilities
The earlier description records roller, mushroom, comb, curved, Y-shaped, brush and globe forms, alongside further fittings visible in the photographs. Their variety deserves time. A globe and a comb do not simply give the collection different silhouettes; they show how much thought went into bringing a general electrical principle into many physical arrangements.
I love the tension between the delicate glass and the purposeful fitted case. These are objects made to be handled, selected and returned to their own spaces. Seen together, the shapes make an absorbing miniature exhibition of specialist glasswork, with the handpiece providing the connection between that fragile collection and the enclosed electrical machinery.
The human scale of an electrical idea
Adjustable intensity and a duration timer are both recorded for this example. They give the face of the machine a directness that remains appealing: named controls, visible positions, and a clear relationship between the operator and the instrument. The cabinet turns an otherwise hidden electrical process into something with a deliberate, understandable front panel.
That is why this earlier listing earns its place in the ARC hive. It preserves the relationship between the case, paperwork, controls and glass collection as they were recorded together. The linked relisted entry is the place to follow the present enquiry; this page keeps the earlier portrait intact, including the details that give this blue-and-cream set its individual character.
